Dylan on a close-knit team, collaboration, and working effectively
The employees in the logistics department are always there for one another. Even when someone is not feeling completely fit, the first question is whether the work can still be done. Only when it truly is not possible does someone go home. Dylan is one of the colleagues in this close-knit team. He has been the Logistics Team Leader since 2021.
“At first glance, I thought Kornelis was a large company. I wondered whether I would be able to find my place here. By now, I know the company inside and out. What I find important is that colleagues are working in the right positions. The work should run smoothly and be easy to carry out. I’m not a manager who simply tells people what needs to be done. We make decisions together.
“I like the working hours. Before joining Kornelis, I worked night shifts for a logistics company, which wasn’t really my thing. When you organize the work properly, you immediately notice that the workload feels lower. Planning is essential to me. If I see an opportunity to improve something in the process, I can implement that change myself. We’re able to move quickly.
In the past, planning was reviewed day by day, and rolls of film and pallets were counted manually using a calculator and notepad. Today, the process is much more efficient. We now scan a barcode for each product. The barcode instantly provides information about its storage location. That makes the work easier and contributes to a positive working atmosphere.
The logistics department is the last stop for our products before they leave the company. We collect the pallets that are ready for shipment from the warehouse. Occasionally, a pallet topples over. Of course, that’s frustrating at the time, but afterwards we can all have a good laugh together when we look back at the photos.”
