Aimee likes working on parts for the post-processing machines

Aimee enjoys creating perfectly precise parts that fit exactly right. In 2022, she started as an intern in the technical department at Kornelis Caps & Closures. On Fridays, she also worked in the toolmaking department. After her internship, she was eager to return to Kornelis. She was offered a position in the toolmaking department and took the opportunity with both hands.

Milling parts for post-processing machines

During her internship, Aimee learned some milling techniques. 'I started on the small milling machine again. After practicing a lot, I was able to work with a larger milling machine,” she says. “I mainly mill parts for the post-processing machines. These machines use guiding sets through which the caps pass, so we can insert inlays into them. These sets sometimes need adjustments, and I make the parts for that,' Aimee explains.

A friendly atmosphere at Kornelis

If she ever runs into trouble, Aimee knows she can always ask a colleague for help. 'At Kornelis, it’s always a pleasant place to work. Everyone is up for a chat, and we help each other out. What I really like about Kornelis is that they focus not only on their employees but also on the local community. For example, they sponsor 'Kopje Cultuur', a large cultural festival that takes place every year in the city.'

Starting a new education path

In September, Aimee will begin a work-study program in Industrial Engineering & Management at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. Kornelis is giving her the opportunity to grow in this new direction. Aimee says, 'This will definitely be the last study I do. I started various programs like engineering, environmental studies, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering, but I hope to finish this Associate Degree in Industrial Engineering & Management with pleasure.'

Active in Steenwijk

Outside of work, Aimee was active as the Climate Mayor of Steenwijk for two years and also started a youth council. 'I’m still the chairperson of the youth council. We represent young people from the municipality of Steenwijk. If the city council or a local company is looking for a young person’s perspective, we make sure to provide that,' Aimee says enthusiastically.
