Kornelis achieves EcoVadis Silver: a major milestone on our sustainability journey

Kornelis Caps & Closures has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal—an achievement we are proud of. This recognition confirms that we perform at a high level in the areas of sustainability, ethics, and corporate social responsibility. And this is no coincidence: sustainability is embedded in the DNA of Kornelis.

What is EcoVadis and why is it important?
EcoVadis is one of the world’s leading sustainability assessment platforms. Companies are evaluated across four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics (fair business practices), and sustainable procurement.

With a score of 76/100, Kornelis ranks in the 93rd percentile. This means we perform better than 93% of all companies assessed worldwide. As a result, we are now among the top 15% in our category. The Silver Medal demonstrates that we meet strict international standards and have a strong foundation for further growth in sustainability.

Environmentally conscious production
To reduce our environmental impact, we continuously improve our processes. We use ISCC PLUS-certified biobased and chemically recycled materials, operate a closed-loop cooling system, and make extensive use of electric (injection molding) machines. In addition, we actively reduce waste.

Sustainable innovations for our customers
Together with our customers, we develop smart packaging solutions for a circular future. We produce lightweight closures, apply mono-material solutions, and develop products with reduced additives. We also implement more efficient production techniques, such as dual film cutting. At the same time, we focus on risk management and continuous process improvement, ensuring our customers can always rely on a sustainable and stable partner.

Focus on CO₂ reduction
Our roadmap toward a lower CO₂ footprint consists of concrete and measurable steps. We purchase 100% green electricity, prepare our production for a gas-free future, and make our logistics activities and transport more sustainable. Step by step, we are building a climate-friendly production environment.

Making progress every day
The EcoVadis score confirms that we are on the right track, but for us it mainly serves as motivation to keep moving forward. We raise the bar every year. Because in our vision, the world is not improved by one big step, but by consciously choosing improvement every day. We do not do this alone—together with our customers, we create sustainable caps and closures that are ready for the future.
